Al respecto, el Gobernador regional celebró la iniciativa, junto con felicitar al alcalde “por hacer algo que se debió planificar hace 20 años. Estación Central lamentablemente paso a ser el emblema de la no planificación urbana. Lo que queremos es una ciudad ordenada, donde se crezca, pero con equilibrio, con respeto y escucha a los vecinos”, indicó la autoridad regional.

Estación Central pasó de tener 140.000 habitantes el año 2016 a 220.000 habitantes este 2021. En términos demográficos la comuna creció un 45% en 5 años, mientras que toda la Región Metropolitana creció menos, un 16% en el mismo período de tiempo.
