Andrés Giordano (D8), el dirigente sindical que busca impulsar el trabajo digno y el salario justo en la constituyente

Entre las banderas de lucha del cofundador del primer sindicato de Starbucks del mundo, también están el reconocimiento del trabajo doméstico y de cuidados; pensiones mínimas iguales al “nuevo salario mínimo digno” y una democracia “radicalmente participativa”, con iniciativas populares de ley, plebiscitos, revocación de mandatos de representantes y descentralización.

Andrés Giordano Salazar tiene 34 años y para las elecciones de este 15 y 16 de mayo va como candidato independiente a la constituyente por la lista Apruebo Dignidad, en el distrito 8. Nació en Buenos Aires, de padre argentino y madre chilena, quienes se encontraron en Europa tras el exilio político de las dictaduras de sus respectivos países, y cuando Andrés tenía 3 años vinieron a vivir a Chile, a la comuna de Estación Central, donde aún vive, hoy junto a su compañera y su hijo. 

El 2007, mientras estudiaba Arte con mención en Fotografía en la U. de Chile, entra a trabajar en Starbucks, y al poco tiempo decide, junto a otras y otros compañeros, organizar el primer Sindicato de Starbucks del mundo, presidiéndolo desde ese entonces -hoy suspendido por la candidatura-, dentro de una empresa condenada cinco veces por prácticas antisindicales en Chile, y donde representa a más de 750 trabajadores y trabajadoras, quienes en noviembre del año pasado fueron indemnizadas por la multinacional, tras la demanda que realizó el sindicato en su contra por aplicar, a inicios de la pandemia, la Ley de Protección del Empleo, iniciativa por la que Giordano interpeló en la calle a Ignacio Briones en enero de este año, cuando aún era ministro de Hacienda. Hoy también participa en el Movimiento No+AFP y es vocero de Primera Línea Sindical, que reúne a más de 35 sindicatos a lo largo del país.

Según su programa, en la nueva Constitución Andrés buscaría asegurar el “derecho de vivir dignamente, en un país plurinacional, con una democracia paritaria, garante del respeto a la diversidad de nuestro pueblo y libre de todo tipo de violencia y discriminación. Al trabajo digno y a una remuneración justa (salario mínimo), acorde a las necesidades socioeconómicas reales de una familia en Chile. El reconocimiento del trabajo doméstico y de cuidados con un Sistema Nacional de Cuidados. El derecho a una jubilación digna, proveniente de un sistema de seguridad social solidario, financiado de forma tripartita y cuyo mínimo sea igual al nuevo salario mínimo digno”. 

Asimismo, el “derecho a la salud, educación y vivienda dignas. Fin a la mercantilización de estos derechos básicos. El derecho a un cobro justo de los servicios básicos, calculado porcentualmente como una porción del salario mínimo. Derechos reproductivos y sexuales, y una educación sexual integral. Derecho a organizarse sindicalmente, negociar colectivamente y ejercer huelga. A un desarrollo sustentable, que preserve un medioambiente sano, nacionalice y proteja los recursos naturales como bienes de uso público. Indulto para quienes fueron detenidos durante las protestas sociales que posibilitaron el actual proceso constitucional. Y juicio, castigo y reparación a las víctimas de la represión del Estado y efectiva protección de los DD.HH”.

Giordano asegura que “las injusticias nos han empujado a movilizarnos y no delegar nuestra voz en políticos reciclados, en farándula o en personajes que no viven en nuestro distrito ni nuestra realidad. Me considero una alternativa desde la juventud que ha vivido la cara más latente de la precarización laboral y que rompió el miedo de unirse y frenar los abusos desde la organización. La constituyente necesita nuestros testimonios, porque hemos vivido las injusticias del modelo en carne propia, organizándonos para transformarlo; quiero estar allí para dar todas las peleas que se tengan que dar como lo he hecho por más de 10 años en nuestro sindicato”.
